(Of course, I’m talking metaphorically. No frogs or elephants are harmed in this post.)
You may have heard the sayings: eat frogs first (do things you need to do, but don’t want to first up). And eat an elephant one bite at a time (cut big projects into bite size pieces).
Call me a rebel – I think this is terrible advice.
The first part of your day you are physical, emotional and mental primed to do your best work. So get that elephant and take a huge chunk and go at it!
The middle of the day is the best time to collaborate, co-work and communicate. Take your elephant along to a lunch time feast, get on the phone, send your emails, check in on your key stakeholders.
Later in the day, when the energy wanes. This is the best time to attend to tasks that you are less enthusiastic about, and knock off your to-do-list one at a time.
And when the working day is done, a walk around the block helps digestion : )
What do you think? Anything here that inspires you to shake things up?
