I learnt so much from her…. here’s 3 life lessons:
Lesson 1: EVERY DAY is a GIFT – Appreciate and celebrate it with enthusisam
“I’m still here!” she says with thrusting two thumbs up in the air. That’s my grandma – responding to the question, how are you going, Mrs Lasala?
Lesson 2: You are as YOUNG as you feel
“It’s strange you know, I sometimes forget that I’m not young anymore”. And for this reason she has a love/hate relationship with your walking cane. She knows that she needs it and she does use it faithfully , but it reminds her that her body has lived for many days. “Oh well , do what you can”.
Lesson 3: Listen & share your stories
I had goose bumps on my arms – the story of my great grandmother had me enthralled. The richness of my family’s past came alive as I took the time to enquire and listen to a story I’d never heard before. That piece of history may have been lost forever – now it’s my story to share with my family and friends.
Rest in Peace Nanni x
